IndusInd Media and Communications Ltd. (IMCL) started its operations in the year 1994, at a time when cable was totally unorganized and fragmented but just taking off and strong and better technologies with more capital requirements became necessary.
The pioneering idea came from the Hinduja Group who initiated forming partnership teams of some forward looking cable operators in Mumbai and Delhi and organized a set up for a professionally run Cable business.
The first office began from Charni Road, which still exists as one of our key Headend. After shifting to Andheri East, "IN Centre" building in 1996, other media synergies were formed. "In Vision" was created to cater to the news of local quality news. "In Mumbai" and "In Time" were the popular news and chat show channels created. The formation of IMCL also put a strategic vision for the other media business of Hinduja Group.
"IN Movies" went on to become toady's "CVO" and flourished as the premium cable movie channel of India. "INPrint" and "PhoneIN" were the other interesting beginnings for print information media and one of the first customer support centre (a customer call centre). InPrint initiated the TV information about TV happenings.
Thus largely IMCL had been pioneering the concept of all information and services of The Television media sector in terms of distribution and value added context since its very inception.
However, IMCL's key success was to bring in an organized set up for the numerous fragmented cable operators in the prime cities across India's key cable dominated cities at that time by giving them support and direction for growth in cable, high quality network and constant customer service. "IncableNet" brand became synonymous with high quality and wider channels cable services. IMCL was one of the first MSOs to launch the Digital Cable Services under "Indigital" Brand in 2003.
